Fort Worth, TX (June 25, 2020) – Today, RATP Dev USA, a national leader in public transit, announced it has been awarded the contract to operate and manage Prince George’s County (The County), “TheBus.”

RATP Dev USA will operate The County’s TheBus transit system of 28 fixed-route, fixed-schedule transit services. The County selected RATP Dev USA through a national competitive process that awarded the contract to the firm whose Technical Proposal best met the County’s requirements as determined by the evaluation criteria and was in the best interest of the County. The initial term of this contract is for five (5) years commencing on July 1, 2020 and continuing in effect through June 30, 2025, with the option to extend for three (3) additional two (2) year periods. With contract services set to begin July 1, 2020, RATP Dev USA and The County have begun transition, with newly appointed General Manager, Sean Smith, and his local leadership team.

RATP Dev USA will provide a turnkey service for TheBus, directly supervising daily administration and management of operations for the fixed route operating services in Prince George’s County. Presently, TheBus services more than 10,000 miles throughout the County with 78 peak buses, wrapping around the eastern boundary of Washington D.C. in urban, suburban and rural settings. The County is an economic and cultural powerhouse in its own right, boasting a friendly business climate, an extraordinarily diverse and multicultural population, and a pleasant quality of life.
