365 days of continuous support! Join us for our 1-year anniversary of We Move People, RATP Dev’s charitable outreach program, as we take a walk down memory lane and prepare for an exciting second year of partnering with our communities.

We Move People brings corporate and agency employees together to positively impact each community in which we operate, specifically focusing on programs involving community beautification, corporate sponsorship, and charitable giving. Every initiative and project completed as a part of the program finds a new way to give back to the community, while building engagement and excitement for transit customers. We Move People promotes equal opportunities and mobility for those in need and for those who use the public transit system. As Sandy Freeman, Senior Vice President, Business Development says, “Moving people is more than getting from point A to point B, but really about enriching their [passengers] lives.”

Community beautification ensures we proactively take care of our environment through sustainability efforts. Corporate sponsorship allows us to enrich the lives of youth and provide transit opportunities that may otherwise not be attainable. To RATP Dev, charitable giving is more than providing a monetary donation, it involves collaborating with each of our communities to create a lasting, positive and meaningful impact.

Since its launch in April 2018, numerous projects have been successfully completed, providing the public greater support, including our partnership with Trinity Metro’s Habitat for Humanity TEXRail Build, the sponsorship of a Celebrity Golf Classic in Camarillo, CA benefiting the local Boys and Girls Club, and donations made to transit related non-profits.

Towards the end of 2018, We Move People introduced one of its most exciting initiatives yet - a company-wide partnership with Toys for Tots. RATP Dev systems participated in a challenge to collect toys for children during the holiday season and together, were able to gather a whopping total of 859 toys! The participation and outcome of this initiative truly embodied RATP Dev’s dedication to making a difference through We Move People and demonstrates what our collective team can accomplish.

Continuing to spread the holiday spirit in Camarillo, CA, Roadrunner and FOOD Share, Inc. teamed up to collect food for families in need. During one of FOOD Share’s busiest times of the year, Roadrunner’s shuttle and car services served as an efficient and convenient way to collect cans for people living in the region. “Grab a can and catch a Roadrunner”, passengers donated nonperishable items such as canned fruits and vegetables, rice, beans, pasta and peanut butter to the Roadrunner drivers, which were then distributed by FOOD Share to the families in need of food and nutrition. “This is our way of saying thanks to the community as we continue Roadrunner’s transportation leadership in the region,” said Tom Witting, General Manager of Roadrunner.

Fast forward to 2019, inspired by United Way’s Shoebox Project, We Move People supported United Way San Antonio for their 5th Annual Shoebox Project. RATP Dev donated supplies that filled 350 shoeboxes with toiletry items to be distributed to the San Antonio, TX community. Items included shampoo, conditioner, soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, to name a few. The items were packaged assembly-line style by the RATP Dev corporate leadership team and General Managers from across the US.

With every step we take towards building We Move People, our core motivation comes from our passengers. Mrs. Freeman eloquently puts our driving force to words when she says, “We can only serve our passengers well when we get to know them and understand what’s important to them.”

As we enter Spring, We Move People’s focus falls on Community Beautification and Sustainability within each of our system locations. Stay tuned, we look forward to serving in a community near you!
