At RATP Dev USA, we move people. That’s our job. We take pride in our ability to safely, efficiently and courteously transport riders from point A to point B day in and day out. Our technicians keep our buses in top notch condition so they are reliable, clean and comfortable. Our customer focused operators are skilled, knowledgeable, and ensure our riders get the best service, bar none. And when all is said and done, if that’s all we did, we’d have performed a pretty important service. But at RATP Dev USA, we believe in more than just physically moving people from one place to another; we believe in touching people’s hearts by enhancing communities. RATP Dev USA improves our local communities not just by offering superb transit services, but by actually becoming a part of the fabric of those communities.

To that end, RATP Dev USA has instituted a community service program called We Move People. We Move People is an outreach program that connects our corporate and agency employees with the communities we serve. We partner with each of our efficient transit methods to support local charitable organizations as well as transit related non-profit organizations. Our outreach takes many forms but has three focus areas: community beautification, corporate sponsorship, and charitable giving. And even though we recently launched We Move People in April, we’ve already taken on a host of projects that have both given the public greater access to public transit options and bettered our communities. Here are a few examples:

In June, RATP Dev USA donated $5,000 to the Transit Empowerment Fund in Austin, Texas. That money will provide thousands of bus passes to nonprofit organizations whose clients are seniors, students, low-income individuals, and people with disabilities.

Through our We Move People campaign, RATP Dev supports the Conference of Minority Transit Officials (COMTO) of North Texas. This spring, we were pleased to help sponsor scholarships for five deserving students who want to pursue careers in the transportation industry.

In May, our corporate employees traveled to Austin, Texas to teach local youngsters about our specialty – buses! We had a wonderful time interacting with the kids, creating transportation related artwork, and getting out the word about the importance of public transit.

RATP Dev USA has also partnered with Trinity Metro’s Habitat TEXRail Build 2018. This project will provide a new and affordable home to a local family in the Fort Worth area. The best news is the home is located on a bus route!

As part of the RATP Dev USA family, and thus We Move People, Roadrunner has consistently raised money for the Boys and Girls Club of Camarillo by sponsoring the Celebrity Golf Classic, to show local youngsters the wide range of possible careers available to them in the transportation industry.

At the end of the day, RATP Dev USA is proud to be a world class public transit service provider that delivers excellent service to our clients and their passengers. Transportation is crucial to a meaningful life. It connects people to employment, supermarkets, healthcare, culture … and other people. And that’s the goal of We Move People – to connect people. We want to work together with our local communities to improve the lives of everyone we serve. As one of our General Managers, Gennie Garcia of Midland-Odessa Urban Transit District, so eloquently described it, public transit is the “truest form of community service.” RATP Dev USA and We Move People are humbled to provide that service whether it’s a reliable and friendly bus ride or a special community service project.
